Maskell’s uplighting showcased on Chauvet Lighting blog

16 Chauvet Freedom Strip LEDs used by DJ Maskell to uplight River Farm in Alexandria Virginia

Uplighting Historic River Farm in Alexandria VA for Liz and Dan’s wedding, June 23rd, 2012

Not long ago, I was approached by Chauvet Lighting to talk about my uplighting rig, which consists of 16 of Chauvet’s wireless Freedom Strip LEDs as the primary unit. They wanted to know about my experience with those lights, how I was using them, why I picked them, how they’ve been performing, etc..

I told them that having a lighting rig that’s all-wireless has been a total game changer for me. I has enabled me to get a full-scale uplighting display set up and running in as little as 15 minutes. Prior to getting this system, my old rig took me about 2 hours to set up because I had to run all the wires—a power cable and a signal cable for each one plus extensions and splitters, about 50 cords in total—then tape all of them down and try to make it look pretty. It was a real pain in the butt!

But now that I have the new rig, I’m able to give my wedding clients a full-size professional-grade uplighting for next to nothing, and I can offer uplighting as a standalone service for a fraction of the cost of hiring a lighting contractor. It has totally changed the way I do business.

Chauvet Lighting also asked me to send them pictures of my lighting rig in use, and I guess I must be doing something right because, in addition to posting them in the blog, now they use my pictures as the stock demo photos for the lighting fixture. To say that I was excited about that would be an understatement, that was pretty darn cool. Thanks @ChauvetDJ for the shout!
